Thanks for checking out this project. My goal is to design and post one new poster a week, but in order to keep the posters coming I need you to request a poster for your event, organization, or cause. I get to keep my layout skills sharp and you get a professionally designed poster for free!

WAIT— ARE YOU REALLY DESIGNING POSTERS FOR FREE?
YES! The majority of my design-time these days is spent working on corporate software challenges for big business. Creating posters is a fulfilling way to use more of my visual design training. Sure, I could just come up with random ideas for myself—but that’s art, not design. I would rather work on real-world projects that might actually help people out.

ARE YOU A PROFESSIONAL DESIGNER?
Yup. My name is Courtney and I’m a native of Seattle, Washington who specializes in concept-driven design with a passion for creating intuitive, data-driven experiences. I have a design degree from SCCA and have been working in the industry (predominantly in digital and user experience design) since I graduated in 2011. WHAT KIND OF POSTERS GET PICKED?
I’m generally open to all kinds of poster opportunities. I do not provide free design services for advertising your business or product and I’ll likely pass up anything that feels like it’s sole purpose is for profit. Exceptions include concerts (generally anything with an event price of less than $50) and the occasional garage sale.
WHAT IS THE POSTER SIZE AND FILE FORMAT?
Most posters will be portrait orientation and formatted to print on 11 x 17 inch (tabloid size) paper, which is available at most neighborhood copy or office supply shops. I’ll deliver a PDF formatted for CMYK printing (which means it will be easy to print on your home inkjet or laser printer, or at any copy/print shop). If you plan to work with a professional printer or want the file formatted for screen printing, please be sure to let me know so I can get in touch with them to make sure the file is setup to meet their specific needs.
DO I HAVE ANY INPUT ON THE STYLE?
I work in a wide range of styles. I give you a chance to provide examples of poster designs that you like in your submission, but that is to give me an idea of where you’re coming from aesthetically and will not necessarily reflect the style for the final poster I create.
WHAT IF I DON’T LIKE MY POSTER?
It would be unrealistic for me to hope that everyone will like all of my work all of the time. Design is subjective and there is a chance that you won’t like the poster I create. The good news is, you didn’t pay anything for it and you’re under no obligation to use it. If you do like it, you get a professionally designed poster for free, so that’s cool.
WHAT IF MY EVENT INFORMATION CHANGES OR THERE IS A MISTAKE?
I’ll use the information provided in your initial submission to create your poster. The tight turn-around won’t allow for any feedback or revisions, so I apologize in advance if I make an error or if the details of your poster change. In order to make sure I can do a new poster every week, I won’t make changes or revisions once the poster is completed and posted on the site. If you’re able to modify the poster yourself so that you can still use it, feel free to do so.
IF MY POSTER IS PICKED, CAN ANYONE ACCESS OR PRINT IT?
Yes. Links to PDF files for all selected posters will be available to anyone who visits the site—but that’s a good thing! If someone else prints or distributes the poster created from your submission, that’s free exposure for your event/cause/organization.
CAN I HIRE YOU FOR FREELANCE WORK?
I’ve recently started teaching one day a week and am actively seeking freelance opportunities to round out my week. If you could use a collaborative, driven designer on your team, email me at mr.courtneycomfort@gmail.com. I prefer collaborating with creative teams at local agencies and web shops and don’t generally take individual clients, but reach out if you’d like to discuss a paid project.

Zero. While I want to produce a poster that meets your needs and best serves the people it’s meant to reach, I am donating my time and training for this effort and it comes with no guarantee, warranty nor acceptance of any liability. I retain the copyright of all posters, concepts, and final materials produced and distributed on this site, excluding unmodified graphic assets you provide for the project.
